• We support responsible health care reform that brings about better access to care, helps the uninsured and underinsured obtain health coverage, preserves the sanctity of the doctor-patient relationship and controls rising costs.
  • We encourage a measured approach to health care reform that doesn't rush the process and allows all stakeholders a seat at the table. We only have one chance to get this right.
  • We believe that all patients should have the right to choose a physician and insurance benefit plan that fits their needs.
  • We believe in promoting accessible care without delay to those who need it.
  • We believe in encouraging efficiency and eliminating waste across our industry.
  • We believe in the value of continued research and development for the advancement of medical procedures and treatment.
  • We support tax code modifications such as credits and vouchers to help the uninsured obtain health coverage.
  • We support controlling high insurance premiums by opening up patient risk pools across the entire country, thereby diffusing risks.
  • We support the elimination of pre-existing conditions as a means to exclude people from obtaining health insurance.
  • We support employer-based health insurance.
  • We encourage competition in the insurance market to drive prices down.
  • We oppose a government run insurance system, which will ultimately create barriers for patient access to quality care.
  • We support policy that will allow an individual/family to be the "owner" of a policy, making coverage portable and available if a job is lost or if one moves to a new place of employment. This would eliminate exclusion from a new employer's plan for a “pre-existing” health issue and also eliminate a waiting period to qualify for enrollment.
  • We support legislation that will reduce frivolous malpractice claims that drive up health costs secondary to defensive medicine.
  • We oppose extending any additional restrictions on physician ownership in health care facilities.
  • We oppose any restrictions on a physician's ability to provide office-based ancillary services such as diagnostic testing or therapeutic services that assist in providing quality care.
  • We oppose any reform that would enable a bureaucrat to decide the appropriate treatment for our patients.

ARdocsCare has concerns about current House and Senate health care reform bills:

  • Ultimately, a public health insurance plan will lead to a single-payer, government run healthcare system, which will lead to inferior health care delivery.
  • Due to their high price tag, the public health plans being discussed are unsustainable.
  • Under a public health insurance plan, the government is empowered to implement rules that would restrict patients' choice of physician and limit timely access to quality specialty care.
  • Many of the bills permit the government to arbitrarily reduce reimbursement for valuable, life-saving specialty care for elderly patients, threatening treatment options.
  • Patient-centered healthcare is threatened by provisions related to comparative effectiveness research, changes to office-based imaging and curtailing the development of physician-owned specialty hospitals.
  • Some of the bills may stifle medical innovation, discourage medical students from entering specialty fields and inhibit valuable continuing medical education.
  • We oppose a government run health plan based on Medicare rates because we believe it will ultimately lead to access to care issues when doctors are forced to ration treatment due to low reimbursement. It will create a health care system composed of "haves" and "have-nots".
